Can I advertise weight loss on TikTok?
Direct answerTikTok allows weight-loss and muscle-gain claims only for people 18 or older, and only when the ad promotes a healthy lifestyle. The weight management and body image policy, reviewed October 10, 2026, also bans exaggerated or harmful claims, disordered eating, and risky weight-management behavior. Supplements, meal replacements, and surgery are listed only for specific country groups. A country that is missing from those groups is not approved by this article.
The rule that applies before the country list
Ad content and landing pages for weight-related products and services must not include exaggerated or harmful weight-loss or muscle-gain claims. Content that promotes disordered eating or risky weight-management behaviors is not allowed. This article does not describe those behaviors.
Any weight-loss or muscle-gain claim has to be limited to people 18 or older, and it has to promote a healthy lifestyle. TikTok’s examples of what is not allowed:
- Unrealistic muscle gain or weight loss.
- Encouragement of unhealthy lifestyles, or an unhealthy relationship with food.
- Claims that the product alone, without diet or exercise, causes the result.
- Suggestions that losing weight or gaining muscle is easy or guaranteed.
A before-and-after edit that implies an instant result is also how TikTok ad rejections usually describe the creative. Meta and Google gym and supplement rules are on the fitness page and the supplement page.
Body image
Ads and landing pages must not explicitly shame people about their bodies, suggest an ideal body type, or promote a better life or self-image as the result of a change in appearance or weight. Named examples:
- Promoting or reinforcing a negative or unhealthy body image.
- Insulting, offensive, or distasteful messages that may make people feel worse about their appearance.
- Suggesting people need to look a certain way, or that there is a “right” or “perfect” way to look.
- Claims that looking a certain way makes someone more desirable, successful, happy, or popular.
- Claims that body appearance determines confidence, self-esteem, emotional wellbeing, desirability, popularity, or social standing.
What each country group lists
TikTok marks these as examples of what is allowed, or may be allowed, in the countries named in that group. Age limits still apply. A product that is listed still has to follow the claim rules above. Surgery rows require a TikTok sales representative.
| Countries on the page | What that section lists | Conditions written for that section |
|---|---|---|
| Australia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam | Weight-loss surgery, weight-loss supplements, meal replacements | Age restrictions, local licensing, full policy compliance. Surgery needs a sales representative for eligibility and permission. |
| Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belarus, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Morocco, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, South Africa, Türkiye, United Arab Emirates, Ukraine | Weight-loss surgery, meal replacements, weight-management supplements | The heading says permitted weight-loss and muscle-gain content. Age restrictions, local licensing, and full policy compliance. Surgery needs a sales representative for eligibility and ad approval. |
| Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom | Weight-loss supplements and meal replacements | Age restrictions and full policy compliance. This section does not list surgery or a licensing condition. |
| United States and Canada | Weight-loss surgery, weight-loss supplements, meal replacements | The page says these may be allowed, subject to age restrictions, local licensing, and full policy compliance. Surgery needs a sales representative. |
The second group says “weight-management supplements,” not “weight-loss supplements.” The Europe group does not list surgery. Do not copy one row onto another country. A market that appears in none of the four groups is not decided by this article.

Frequently asked questions
Can the ad say the pill works without diet or exercise?
No. TikTok’s examples of what is not allowed include claims that the product alone, without diet or exercise, can lead to weight loss or muscle gain, and suggestions that losing weight or gaining muscle is easy or guaranteed.
Are weight-loss supplements allowed in the United States?
On the October 10, 2026 page, the United States and Canada row says weight-loss supplements may be allowed, subject to age restrictions, local licensing, and the rest of TikTok’s advertising policies. That is not the same wording as the Europe row, which says they are allowed subject to age restrictions and full policy compliance.
Does a gym ad have to follow this page?
This policy covers weight-related products and services, and any weight-loss or muscle-gain claim. A gym ad that promises a body result is inside those claim rules. A class schedule with no weight or muscle claim is the fitness page.
