How to appeal a rejected ad on Meta, Google, and TikTok
Direct answerAppeal only after you know the policy label and either fixed the ad or have a reason the original decision is wrong. Meta uses Business Support Home. Google uses Policy manager or the Ads page. TikTok uses the Disapproved label in Campaigns, then Edit or Appeal.
Edit vs appeal: a decision rule
| Situation | Do this |
|---|---|
| The label is right (before/after, “#1,” 50% vs 30%) | Edit the creative or page. Do not appeal yet. |
| You already changed the asset and saved it | Let automatic re-review run. Appeal as “made changes” if it stays rejected. |
| The label names the wrong policy (e.g. weapons on a kitchen-knife brand that is clearly cutlery) | Appeal as a disputed decision. Attach the product page. |
| Restricted category without authorization | Apply for permission. Appealing without credentials fails. |
| The ad account, Page, or user is restricted | Follow account-level troubleshooting, not an ad appeal. |
Meta
Meta’s Ads Review Policy says review is typically completed within 24 hours, can take longer, and ads can be reviewed again after they are live. If an ad is rejected, you can create a new compliant ad, edit the rejected ad, or request another review if you believe the rejection was incorrect.
The troubleshoot a rejected ad article says you get an email with a link to Business Support Home. Editing in Ads Manager automatically submits another review. Deleting the ad can remove your ability to request another review. Meta aims to decide a requested review within 48 hours. If the rejection is overturned, it does not count as an ad violation.
Recommended appeal note (not a Meta template): quote the policy name, point to the changed field (“overlay no longer asks ‘are you diabetic?’”), and link the matching landing-page section. Do not argue that competitors run worse ads.
Restricted accounts use a different article: request a review if you are restricted. You must be an admin.
Google Ads
Google’s fix a disapproved ad or appeal article says a disapproved ad cannot run until the violation is fixed and the ad is reviewed again. Appeals are available for most formats from Policy manager (Tools → Troubleshooting → Policy manager) or from Campaigns → Ads (select ads → Edit → Appeal policy decision). Reasons: “Dispute decision” or “Made changes to comply with policy.”
If the Appeal link is missing, Google says that policy does not allow campaign submission — make and save a minor edit to trigger review. Check status under Policy manager → Appeal history. Review status is typically one working day; if an ad is under review longer than 48 hours, Google documents extra troubleshooting steps.
For unreliable claims, misrepresentation, and destination mismatch specifically, fix the RSA and URL first using why Google ads get disapproved.
TikTok
TikTok’s what to do if your ad was rejected page (updated April 2025) says you can edit, create a new ad, or appeal. Path: Ads Manager → Campaign → find the ad or ad group → Disapproved → explanation → View more → Edit ad (resubmits) or appeal if you think the rejection was a mistake.
The ad review FAQ says review takes about 24 hours and that editing creative or targeting location retriggers review. If an ad is stuck, TikTok still points at the 24-hour norm rather than a guaranteed SLA.
For the usual Spark Ad fails (instant results, before/after, landing-page price), edit using why TikTok ads get rejected before you appeal.
Shared workflow
- Read the exact policy label. Screenshot it. Do not appeal “unfair” without naming the clause.
- Decide: non-compliant creative (edit) vs possible reviewer error (appeal) vs mixed (edit, then appeal as “made changes”).
- Fix the asset and the landing page. Wait until the live URL matches the new claim.
- Use the platform’s official review surface — not a new cloned campaign that hides the history.
- File one complete request. Repeated identical appeals delay review on TikTok and waste Google’s appeal slots.
Frequently asked questions
Should I appeal a rejected ad or edit it?
Edit when the creative, offer, or landing page actually violates policy. Appeal when you believe the decision is wrong or you have already made the ad compliant. All three platforms document both paths. Appealing the same banned before/after usually fails.
How long does an appeal take?
Meta says another review of a rejected ad is usually completed within 24 hours and it aims to decide within 48 hours in its troubleshooting article — it can take longer. Google’s review process typically takes one working day; complex cases take longer. TikTok says most ads are reviewed within 24 hours. None of those clocks start until you submit a changed asset or a review request.
Can I appeal from Ads Manager?
Google: yes, from Ads or Policy manager. TikTok: yes, from the Campaign tab Disapproved label. Meta: rejected ads are routed through Business Support Home / Account Quality rather than a generic Ads Manager button — follow the email link Meta sends.
What if my whole ad account is disabled?
That is a different object than a single rejected ad. See why a Facebook ads account is disabled. Do not open a replacement account while an appeal is pending.

Fix the finding before you spend an appeal
LaunchGuarding cites the policy family and a safer rewrite so you edit once, then appeal only if the new version should have passed.
