Google Ads Coordinated Deceptive Practices Suspensions

Updated September 29, 2026 · 7 min read · Reviewed against public platform policy pages

Direct answerGoogle suspends the account on detection, with no warning, for coordinated deceptive practices. The policy bans two things: coordinating with other sites or accounts while concealing or misrepresenting your identity or other material details, when the content is about politics, social issues, or matters of public concern; and directing that kind of content to users in another country while misrepresenting or concealing your country of origin or other material details. You are not allowed to advertise with Google Ads again. Reinstatement happens only in compelling circumstances.

The two bans

Google states both rules directly. Policy: coordinating with other sites or accounts and concealing or misrepresenting your identity or other material details about yourself is not allowed when the content relates to politics, social issues, or matters of public concern. Directing that content to users in a country other than your own is not allowed if you misrepresent or conceal your country of origin or other material details about yourself.

Interpretation: the page does not ban every political ad, and it does not ban every advertiser who targets another country. Both sentences require concealment or misrepresentation of identity or other material details. A candidate or organization that completes the disclosures in Google’s political-ad process is dealing with election-ad authorization, not this suspension. A product brand that never talks about politics is not in the sentences above.

Google says it may review the ad, the website, accounts, and third-party sources. The policy does not publish a checklist of which documents prove identity. Do not invent a “safe” structure of extra accounts. Coordinating with other sites or accounts is part of the first ban.

Why the account does not get a 7-day warning

The page calls the violation egregious: unlawful or a significant harm to users. Policy: if Google finds a violation, Google Ads accounts are suspended upon detection and without prior warning, and the advertiser will not be allowed to advertise with Google Ads again. Accounts are reinstated only in compelling circumstances, such as a mistake, and only when there is good reason. The parent Misrepresentation page repeats the same suspension language for this section.

That is a different outcome from dishonest pricing, clickbait, or an ordinary disapproved ad, which can be edited and resubmitted. It is also different from circumventing systems, which is what Google calls trying to get around a suspension with a new account. Creating that account does not replace the appeal, and it can be its own violation.

How the appeal actually starts

  1. In the Google Ads account, use the Contact Us link in the notification at the top of the screen. Google says that link opens the appeal form.
  2. Explain why the decision is wrong. Google says to be thorough, accurate, and honest because reinstatement is for compelling circumstances, such as a mistake.
  3. Selecting Contact Us again while the appeal is still being processed sets the account to “Appeal pending.” The outcome arrives by email. If the appeal is rejected, Google says you can re-appeal the same way.

Certain advertisers must complete advertiser verification successfully in order to appeal. Policy: if Google cannot verify their identity after 3 attempts, they will not be allowed to appeal the suspension. Billing and payment suspensions are a different case: Google says those advertisers may be asked to verify a payment method. The suspended accounts overview is the general status page. It does not add a second definition of this policy.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit the ad and get back in?

Not the way a normal disapproval works. Google treats coordinated deceptive practices as egregious. Accounts are suspended on detection, without prior warning, and the advertiser is not allowed to advertise with Google Ads again. Reinstatement is only in compelling circumstances, such as a mistake.

Is a properly disclosed political ad this policy?

A US election ad that completes Google’s political-ad authorization and verification is a different workflow. This policy is about concealing or misrepresenting identity, or concealing country of origin, on content about politics, social issues, or matters of public concern.

What if identity verification fails during the appeal?

Google says certain advertisers must complete advertiser verification to appeal. If Google cannot verify their identity after 3 attempts, they will not be allowed to appeal the suspension.

Scan claims before the account is at risk

LaunchGuarding scans ad and landing-page claims before submission. It does not overturn an egregious suspension. That appeal has to be filed in the Google Ads account.
