Why did Google disapprove my ad for an app or web store policy violation?
Direct answerGoogle disapproves the ad when the app or web-store destination violates that store’s policies. The app or web store policy violation page, reviewed October 15, 2026, tells you to read the notice the store sent, fix the listing with the store, and only then edit and save the ad. Re-review typically takes 24 to 48 hours. A warning comes at least 7 days before account suspension.
What Google is pointing at
Destination requirements say the landing page has to be functional. This child policy adds a store rule: the app or web-store destination has to follow Google app or web-store policies. The disapproval example is one sentence. The destination in the ad violates those store policies.
Google’s fix is equally specific. Review the notification the app or web store sent you. That notice is where the store’s reason lives. Resolve it with the store before the ad can serve again. Then edit the ad or asset so it complies and save. Status updates appear on Ads & assets.
Interpretation: a new screenshot in the Google ad does not answer a store notice about the listing. The page does not give a second path that skips the store.
A different label
If Google cannot recognize the app, the label is unrecognized app. That page’s examples are a malformed app ID, incomplete or malformed store information, and an app the store has deleted or suspended. If the creative never names the app, the label is unidentified business.
Use the words in Policy details. “App or web store policy violation” means the destination breaks the store’s rules and the store has a notice. “Unrecognized app” means Google cannot match the app. An ad can collect both. Fix the one named on the ad, then check the other before you resubmit.
If the label looks wrong
After the store listing complies, you can request a review from the Google Ads account. Google says a successful review lets the ads run again. If you cannot fix the store violation, or you choose not to, repeated violations can still lead to suspension after the 7-day warning.

Frequently asked questions
Can I clear this by editing the headline?
No. Google says you resolve the issue with the app or web store before the ad can serve again. The notice to read is the one the store sent you. After the store side is fixed, edit the ad or asset and save it.
Is a deleted app this label?
A deleted or suspended app that Google cannot recognize is the unrecognized-app policy. This label is a destination that violates the store’s policies. Read the exact policy name on the ad. If both notices exist, fix the store listing and the app ID.
How long before an account suspension?
Google says a violation of this policy will not suspend the account immediately. A warning is issued at least 7 days before suspension. Re-review after you edit and save typically takes 24 to 48 hours.
