Can I advertise condoms, birth control, or fertility services?
Direct answerGoogle does not allow ads for birth control, fertility, surrogacy, or STI testing in a fixed location list that includes China, Hong Kong, Thailand, and much of the Middle East and North Africa. The United States is not on that list. The policy groups condoms, birth control pills, fertility testing, surrogacy, and STI testing together. A prescription pill can still need a separate healthcare certification even in a country this list does not ban.
Where Google blocks the category
Google’s birth control, fertility, and testing policy, reviewed on September 24, 2026, says these products and services cannot be advertised in:
- Bahrain
- China
- Djibouti
- Egypt
- Hong Kong
- Iran
- Iraq
- Jordan
- Kuwait
- Malaysia
- Lebanon
- Libya
- Morocco
- Oman
- Palestinian Territory
- Qatar
- Saudi Arabia
- Syria
- Thailand
- Tunisia
- Ukraine
- United Arab Emirates
- Yemen
Examples on the page, and the page says the list is not exhaustive, are condoms, birth control pills, fertility testing, surrogacy services, and STI testing. Recheck the live list before a campaign that includes any of those markets. Violations do not suspend the account immediately. Google says a warning comes at least 7 days before suspension.
The fix steps on that page are to edit the ad so the target locations comply, then save for review. The page does not publish a birth-control application form. Do not file a healthcare certificate “just in case” and assume it unlocks Bahrain or the UAE.
A pill is still a medicine
Policy: the location ban applies to the examples above. Interpretation: a condom sold in the United States is the clearest case this page answers. A birth-control pill that is prescribed or shipped by a pharmacy can also be a prescription-drug service. Clearing this location list does not skip that certification. Abortion, including medication abortion, is the abortion advertising page, not a fertility test.
“Are you infertile?” or “your STI” can still fail Meta’s personal attributes policy after the product is allowed. The Meta standards pages retrieved for this article did not include a dedicated condom chapter. Do not invent one.
TikTok
TikTok’s healthcare and pharmaceuticals policy is a market table. In the United States and Canada condom rows, ads may be allowed at 18+ if they do not focus on sexual pleasure or stay overtly sexual. The Canada medical-institutions row names surrogacy as not allowed. Do not copy the Canada surrogacy line onto a US condom, and do not treat a US condom row as permission to advertise surrogacy. Open the country you target.
Setup workflow
- Name the offer: condom, birth-control pill, fertility test, surrogacy, or STI testing. Google’s location ban uses that whole group.
- Remove every location on the banned list. This policy’s fix is the target set, not a softer headline.
- If the product is a prescribed pill or a mail pharmacy, check prescription-drug services as a second gate. This location list does not replace that certification.
- On TikTok, open the market table. Condom rows that exist are often 18+ and bar ads that focus on sexual pleasure. Canada’s medical-institutions row names surrogacy as not allowed.
- Do not write “are you infertile?” Personal-attribute copy can fail after the product itself is allowed.
Frequently asked questions
Are condom ads banned in the United States?
Not by this Google policy. The United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and the EU countries that are not named are absent from the banned-location list reviewed on September 24, 2026. The ban is the list. It is not a worldwide prohibition, and it is not a promise that every other policy is silent.
Is a birth-control pill the same ad as a condom?
Google’s examples include both. The location ban applies to the whole group. A pill that is prescribed and dispensed can also sit under prescription-drug services even when the country is not on this list. Read that policy before you treat a US pill campaign as unrestricted.
Does this page cover abortion ads?
No. Queries about getting an abortion, the Provides abortions disclosure, and Google’s abortion location list are a separate policy.

Separate the condom from the prescription
LaunchGuarding reads the product and the destination so a retail condom and a prescribed pill are not reviewed as the same offer.
