Can I advertise recreational drugs or pill presses?

Four bans, then a different product
Google’s Recreational drugs policy, reviewed on September 26, 2026, lists four groups that are not allowed. The example lists are not exhaustive.

The machine sentence describes equipment used to compact or fill powders, granules, or other materials into tablets or capsules. It does not add “only if the buyer makes illegal drugs.” Recommended practice: if you sell a finished supplement, advertise that product under supplement rules. Do not run an ad for the press.
Do not file the wrong certificate
Topical hemp-derived CBD at 0.3% THC or less is the exception on this same Google page, with application and location limits. Those steps, and Google’s note about a limited Canada cannabis pilot, are handled in CBD and cannabis ads. The pilot sentence is not a license to advertise marijuana in the United States. Marijuana remains a named example in the ban above.
Heroin and other illegal opioids on this list are not prescription opioid painkillers. That policy is egregious. A clinic ad for recovery, with no drug for sale, is addiction treatment. Violations of the recreational-drugs policy get a warning at least 7 days before suspension.
Setup workflow
- Sort the offer: a substance sold for a high, a pipe or similar facilitator, a how-to forum, a pill press or encapsulator, a CBD product, a prescription opioid, or addiction treatment.
- The first four are not allowed on this policy. Remove the ad. A 7-day warning applies before suspension.
- CBD and marijuana rules, including any Canada pilot, stay on the CBD page. Do not file that certificate for a pill press.
- A prescription painkiller mention is the opioid page. A recovery program that does not sell a drug is the addiction-treatment page.
- A finished vitamin is a supplement ad. Do not illustrate it with the machine that presses the powder.
