Why was Merchant Center suspended because of a linked Google Ads account?
Direct answerMerchant Center suspends the account when a linked Google Ads account is suspended, and unlinking that Ads account does not undo it. Google’s linked account suspension page, reviewed October 21, 2026, says the Google Ads suspension has to be fixed first. The Shopping abuse policy treats this link as egregious: suspension on detection, without a prior warning.
What to do, in Google’s order
- Do not unlink the suspended Google Ads account as the fix. Google says that removal will not resolve the Merchant Center issue.
- Appeal the Google Ads suspension. What that appeal has to explain depends on why Ads was suspended. That diagnosis is the Google Ads account suspension page.
- The linked-account page says support will reach out in 5 business days about the Google Ads account status. That clock is the follow-up on the Ads appeal. It is not a 7-day warning before the Merchant Center suspension. The policy text says there is no prior warning.
- When the Google Ads account is unsuspended, sign in to Merchant Center and request a review if that account is still suspended.
- If you list through a third-party platform, Google says you may also be able to request the review from that application.
Google’s egregious boilerplate on this section says a Merchant Center account suspended for it is not allowed to list again, and that accounts are reinstated only in compelling circumstances. Read that as the policy’s own limit. It is not a promise that a successful Ads appeal automatically restores the feed the same day.
A single product that failed a website check is a Shopping website disapproval, not this account suspension. A store that only businesses can buy from is the B2B checkout rule.

Frequently asked questions
If I unlink the suspended Google Ads account, does Merchant Center come back?
No. Google’s fix page says removing or unlinking the suspended Google Ads account will not unsuspend Merchant Center. The Google Ads suspension has to be resolved before the Merchant Center issue can be reviewed.
How long does the Google Ads appeal take?
The linked-account page says that after you submit the Google Ads appeal, support will reach out in 5 business days about that account’s status. That is not a promise that Merchant Center is reviewed on the same day. Request the Merchant Center review after the Google Ads account is unsuspended, if Merchant Center is still suspended.
Is this the same as a disapproved product?
No. A disapproved product is one offer. This suspension is the Merchant Center account, caused by the linked Google Ads account. Google calls this kind of Shopping violation egregious: the account is suspended when the violation is found, without a prior warning, and reinstatement is described as limited to compelling circumstances.
