Why does Google say my Shopping availability does not match?

Updated October 22, 2026 · 6 min read · Reviewed against public platform policy pages

Direct answerThe availability value in the product feed has to match the product page. Google’s availability attribute, reviewed October 22, 2026, uses in stock, out of stock, preorder, and backorder. Preorder is only for a product that has not been released. A later restock of a current product is backorder.

Pick the value from the page

ValueWhat Google says is true
In stockYou are accepting orders and can fulfill them. You are certain the product will ship, or be in transit, in a timely manner. You can deliver it to every location in the product data and shipping settings.
Out of stockYou are not accepting orders, or the product is not available to buy.
PreorderYou are accepting orders for a product that has not been released. You must send an availability date, and that date should be on the landing page. Do not use this for a current product that is simply out of stock.
BackorderThe product is unavailable now, you are still accepting orders, and it will ship when it returns. You must send an availability date, and that date should be on the landing page.
Build to orderVehicle ads only. The vehicle is not in dealership inventory now, and the customer can customize and order it.

Google says some descriptions on this page do not apply to vehicle ads. A price on the page that does not match the ad is dishonest pricing. A store where only some customers can check out is the business-only checkout rule.

Hide it without deleting it

If you need to stop orders for a while, or hide the product, Google says not to delete the item. Adding the offer back after a deletion takes a significant amount of time before it can show again. Use the pause attribute instead. If the product is not in stock and you are temporarily not accepting orders, set availability to out of stock.

A landing page that will not load is destination not working. This page is the status word in the feed. It does not print a 7-day suspension warning.

Frequently asked questions

Should I delete a product to hide it for a week?

No. Google says not to delete the item if you only need to stop orders or hide it for a while. Putting the offer back after a deletion takes a significant amount of time. Use the pause attribute to hide it. If it is not in stock and you are not taking orders, set availability to out of stock.

The item is sold out and will return next month. Is that a preorder?

No. Preorder is only for a new product that has not been released. An existing product you are still accepting orders for, which will ship when it is back, is backorder. Both require an availability date, and that date should be visible on the landing page.

Can in stock mean I ship to only some of my listed regions?

Google’s in-stock definition says you can deliver the product to all of the locations you support in the product data and shipping settings, and that you are certain it will ship or be in transit in a timely manner. “Timely” is not defined on the page.
